This year’s edition for the American Music Awards took place last Sunday night, and just as
always, it brought us amazing performances from our favourite artists. Let’s take a look at
The show opened up with Justin Bieber’s performance for “Lonely”, one of his most popular
songs this year, which then led to a very passionate and even intimate version of his hit
“Holy”. His vocals were great, but they were not the only thing worth mentioning about the
performance: the masked back up singers that accompanied the artists were also stunning and
definitely increased the quality of the show, which was already quite high from the
But that is not all my friends. Shawn Mendes got to the stage too once Bieber’s song was
finished and joined him, along with his guitar, for a performance of “Monster” the duet both
artists released together a couple days ago.
For sure, this was a powerful opening, But not the last time we saw Mendes in action. Later
in the ceremony, the singer got his guitar and climbed to the stage again to sing “Wonder”,
one his most personal songs so far which left everyone amazed with his talent.
The Weekend was also a star himself during his performance. With the bandages attire we
have been seeing him for the last awards ceremony, he had Kenny G joining him for an epic
performance of “In your eyes”. The show took place in a venue near the award where they
both created a crazy pyrotechnic show that grabbed everyone’s attention. Then, the artist also
sang “Save your tears”, which was the first time he performed this song in tv
Another fire duet came with Maluma and Jennifer Lopez as they performed their songs “Pa
Ti” and “Lonely”, with the AMAS also being the first time where the songs were ever
performed. As amazing as their performance was their attire, especially Jlo’s. She wore a
stunning semi-sheer jumpsuit that enhanced her great shape and that prevented everyone from
even blinking. Joined by Maluma, the show they pulled off had some old jail vibes which
added a lot of sensuality to the performance.
BTS closed the show after winning two of the most important awards of the night, Favourite
Social Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock group. Of course, they performed “Dynamite”, probably
their biggest hit yet, in a very dynamic act full of movement and energy. However, they did
this after bringing their single “Life Goes On” to the stage.
It is also worth mentioning Dua Lipa’s “Levitating” performance, which she made form
London and where we could see her literally levitating; 24kgolden and Iann Dior’s show for
their megahit “Mood”, and Billie Ellish’s presentation for “Therefore I am”.
What a great night for music!
